So this is me.  I'm Ilene, a California native who has finally found her forever home in a small house on a tree-lined street in a Steel City kind of town.

I'm a teacher by day, attempt to capture my life in words when the moment hits me, and a photographer by night. I've been somewhat successful in the writing world and even have a Pushcart Prize nomination (toot-too!) I can slap up on the bedpost, as well as a few other publication credits. My niche is poetry, but lately I've been branching out. I'm slowing growing a photography business and am enjoying every opportunity I get to photograph a mama and her proud bump or the peach fuzz on a newborn.

I'm married to an amazing man who shall be known among these pages as Big Red. Big Red prefers his anonymity, so as a good wife, I've granted him such. Together we have a fabulous little doggie we named Olive. Olive was adopted in June of 2010 from Animal Friends, she is our first baby girl, and we love her bunches and bunches. She taught us how to be good parents. In the fall of 2013 we welcomed our daughter, Lucille. She is both the light of my life and the reason I'm exhausted.

This is my life.

Welcome to my world.
