I just spoke with a lovely English teacher at the high school I'm subbing at today and she told me that she was told, when she first moved to this area from another state, that she should be prepared to sub for 3-5 years. THREE TO FIVE YEARS.

No. Don't listen to anyone. Keep doing what you're doing and thinking positive. Why would someone say that? She's obviously a kill-joy and wants to bring others down with her. You will get a permanent teaching job soon because you're awesome.
OMG! She sounds like a threatened hater. Ugh! I agree, WTF! That can't be true. You are so over qualified, any school would be lucky to have you. What a crazy, crazy lady.
