Language.

I just got my first reprimand. Didn't take very long. We're not in Kansas anymore. I had a bunch of rowdy jerks in class on Friday and I went from calm to frustrated in no time. Before I knew it, my mouth got ahead of me (as it is often known to do) before my brain could catch up and I told a group of boys to quit acting like smart-asses. Apparently this doesn't fly out here on the East; a glaring difference between my new home and old one.

The principal of the school called me, and of course I called her right back. I completely fessed up to my egregious verbal error and apologized. She then offered that I should not hesitate to call the office for help if I needed it in the future. I should not view this as a sign of weakness or worry that the kids would believe they're stomping on me. Further, the administration would be able to give me the tools I needed to become a better sub. That's what she said. And I like this principal, so I won't hold this against her.

Lady, I DON'T NEED ANY TOOLS. I HAVE NO DESIRE TO BE A "BETTER SUB" AND THE JRS IN QUESTION WERE BEING SMART-ASSES AND THEY WERE PROBABLY SHOCKED THAT SOMEONE FINALLY CALLED THEM ON IT!

Trust that I said none of the above. I kept my mouth shut.
A useful tool. Apparently.

PS: Self-control (discussed yesterday) in effect; going smooth so far.
PSS: They never responded to my letter. So I sent a follow up and my email was returned. They blocked me. {See 10.25.08 entry under "Recyclables" in the menu on the right.}
